Palace On Wheels

Agra - The Taj Mahal - This memorial was built around the same time as the Sistine Chapel.  It was constructed by Shah Jahan, a Muslim Emperor, in memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, who produced 17 children for the Mughal prince, but died in childbirth during her 19th pregnancy.  The structure houses her grave, as well as his.  It took 20,000 workers 22 years to build the 'Crown Palace' at a cost of 32 million rupees.  The master architect was Ustad 'Isa.
