This marble calendar is only half
the picture. The
"jaiprakash yantra" is in the form of two hemispherical bowls
representing the celestial spheres and the use of a vertical rod in
the center gives different positions of celestial bodies during the
day and night, the gradations are etched on the marble lining.
Where this one has space the other has marble and where this one has
marble the other has space.
Giant Killer (and I mean three days
of hobbling around like Dick Van Dyke in the clown scene from
"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang") stairs to the top of this enormous time
piece.
