Marrakech - The Souks - labyrinthine streets arranged in no discernable pattern, but each profession has a distinct quarter.  Once you cross from the rug quarter to the mettle working quarter,for instance, things get a lot louder. 

The Fandouks are the old inns and trading posts for the city.  Travelers coming from places like Timbuktu plied their wares here.  Their animals were housed inside the courtyards of the fandouk, while lodging for travelers and workers was on the second floor overlooking the courtyard.
