The neighborhood bakery oven.
The smell was heavenly. We
even got a nice hunk of bread from a girl picking up her family's
three loaves.
The ubiquitous salads...yum.

Most people don't have ovens in
their homes, so the loaves are brought to the bakery for baking.
All through the day you see people carrying cloth-covered rising
bread loaves on wooden platters through town.
